I intended to put these in accurate date order and label them appropriately. Not a chance, it was like herding cats, so they are sort of in some sort of order if you don’t look too closely and there are comments , labels or captions underneath some of them. Roughly speaking, as you scroll down you are going back in time.
I have come to the conclusion that scanned images are not as attractive as photos, mainly because they look scratchy and all the mistakes and inaccuracies are emphasised. However, for what they are worth, here they are.
DC 323 Abundies around the heart and HeartsOffset in the background.
DC 318 Patterns used, Joki, Balldox, a bit of Abundies, Flux, Paradox and Drift.
DC 312 b The shading is less than perfect because I used a Promarker pen on water colour paper and it soaks in too much. Lesson learned.
Maybe a little more shade needed?
DC 303 Needs work on the shading but…
DC 301b Made my own triangular tile and had aother go at last week’s Challenge. Better but there will be more mileage in this.
DC 295 The Diva Challenge tile for this week
DC 289 autumnal theme/leaves
DC 286 straight lines
DC 300 – the Mobius syndrome Group logo
Dc 287I really love this pattern, so I filled it with Groovy and added a little Finery. Fun, fun, fun.
DC 291 First attempt at a sugar skull
Is this enough or not?
Dc 262 Nzeppel, Sandswirl, Jessicup and, of course, Fassett.
Dc 264 Something planet oriented going on here, maybe?
DC 264 aFirst attempt.
DC 264 bIn my opinion, the improved version.
Dc 265I added bits of colour but it didn’t improve. Ah well, it is what it is.
I just printed off the boxes and filled them in.
Dc 266I finished this on the train so it’s a bit untidy, I’m afraid.
More work needed but I like the pattern, even if I haven’t fully got it yet.
I’m sending this to Michele Wynne as a little mini swap. I tried hard to echo her style with muted colours but I haven’t got it right yet.
Dc 276Another one drawn on a plane but this one feels incomplete to me, so I may be adding to it – when I have given it a bit of thought.
DC 276One of several drawn in transit, in this case, on a plane.
For the next swap – monotangle Dragonair, which I really enjoyed. It was done before the op so the wobbles are just the norm for me!
DC 261Some of the worst colour combinations I have ever been guilty of and yet I almost like it.
Narwal, Nemnies, Nolashrim and Nootka.
Nzeppel, Niuroda and Nia.
Nipa, Arukas, two that I can’t remember the names and Nell, if it doesn’t already have a name.
An Edwardian bracelet?
The first batch
DC 249 Not sure what was going on in my head but here it is.
I probably like this one best but I couldn’t say why.
Using Scroll Feather is always a risk for me, so I feel I was very brave with this one.
I did this one first and I feel it’s a bit busy but not too bad.
I was determined to do Mooka and get it “right” i.e. fairly smooth curves and shaded. This is getting there, I think.
DC 231 a
DC 231 b
DC 233It’s not that they turned out particularly badly, it’s the fact that I have the patience of a road runner and the brains of a newt. A small newt.
Dc 232 b
Windfarm, Trio and Morf
DC 235 a
DC 235 b
Just three patterns, Fescu, TriBee and Dex.
Experiments with Tri Bee.
DC 227I’ll admit to using a compass to get the circles reasonably round – I have no shame.
DC 228 Could have been a bit more subtle with the shading…
DC 229 aI was experimenting with Cirquital and this is how it turned out. Sepia Micron pen, Zenstone and a brown pencil.
DC 229b My second attempt at using white space.
DC 231 a
DC 231 b
Dc 232 b
DC 233 a
DC 233 b
DC 226 aWell it’s alright but doesn’t float my boat.
DC 226bMuch more fun.
I think this is the finished version, as I don’t think it needs colour. Or does it? Maybe a bit of red?
The Square One focus pattern was Bunzo, which I’ve always chickened out of before. Generally speaking, if I try to fill in a black area, the white around it gets smaller and smaller.
Last week’s Square One focus was on Oof. Not a favourite, as I tend to try to make it symmetrical and I can’t. Finally managed to relax into it and found myself with something I quite like.
DC 210 bJust three patterns – Bunzo, Mooka, while I’m on a roll, and a sort of minimalist Fengle in the middle.
DC 210 aJust three patterns – Henna Drum, Organza and Bunzo.
The usual pens, 5HB pencil and some red water colour pencil.
Dc 213Patterns used – Flux, Brella, A’s and 3 giant Rixty.
DC 216Didn’t have any ideas in mind, just went with it.
This is my labyrinth fo lst week’s Diva Challenge.
This is based on a Youtube video I saw, which was black pen on white. I like it on the grey/green card but am in two minds about the added colour.
And this one makes me think of fairies.
Why does this one look a bit threatening?
Children’s windmills for the beach?
I have to own up to this being a direct steal from one I saw on Pinterest. It’s signed by Evelyn, 27th April 2013 but I’ve lost the original web address. Thank you, whoever you are.
Apparently sheep or goat will do?
DC 208 I do worry about what goes on in my head because, when I look at this, I see a tree branch outside a prison wall. Oh my, oh my.
This is upside down from the way I drew it bit it really doesn’t matter.
I did this one for Square One on Facebook. The focus tile was Rixty, which I really like but I couldn’t think of a nice way of integrating it. In the end I used String 140 from Tanglepatterns.com and went for patterns I’ve hardly ever used.
My take on Clarice Cliff. Almost happy with it, except for the sky. May take it out of the frame and give it a bit more attention.
Dc 202bWho can say how the mind works? Wasn’t even sure which way is the right way up but this is how I drew it.
DC 202 cTried for delicate colour but it looks a bit washed out.
DC 196 Is the lack of face symbolic in some way? No. Just can’t draw faces!
DC 197 This pattern looks simple but needs a steadier hand than mine to get it just right. however, I was amazed how much better it looked with shading.
And a second try using Trio, Xyp and Huggins Again, better, I think.
Dc 194 Second attempt at a left hander, better but I still don’t like doing it. It’s like taking medicine. It may be good for me but…
Yuma, Pystyl and Lichen.
DC 188 Started with a rainbow string, for obvious reasons. Sunrays shining through, equally obvious.
I just like this one. simple and it worked – they sometimes do.
DC 189A Fengle to get it started with the stalks coming off the ends of the “petals. filled it with Barberpole and my most successful attempt at getting “light” on it so far. But…
A bit bigger than usual too, about 6″ square.
the Challenge on Square One was to use Betweed and I was going for something a bit different. I quite like it, but poor old Betweed got a bit lost in the mix.
We were using Dex on Square One and I wanted to try a curve. It ended up looking like a very 1960’s eye make up pic, especially with the Summer of Love heart in the middle.
Square One Challenge to use Pendrills. There’s something vaguely sci-fi about this. I can hear John Wyndham and Robert Heinlein giggling in the background…
Now this one, also for Square One, brought Betweed more into focus.
Square One challenge to use Quib, which I’m not very good at but I did have fun with my accidental octopus.
A bouquet of Fescu with Zinger wrapped in Barberpole.
Fescu, Queen’s Crown, Scrawlz, Pais and an aura or two.
DC 185 aMy first attempt at Diva Challenge 185 – Diva Dance and Phicops, not an easy combination.
DC 185bThis works so much better for me than the first one but I couldn’t tell you why.
DC 184 The shape is ok but the shading isn’t working. Or I chose the wrong background pattern, not sure which.
DC 183Using X-did as the border, Frickle, Strircle, Dragonair, Aahs and one I can’t remember the name of.
Verdigh, Zenbudz, Dragonair.
DC 182A couple of old favourites and a couple of new ones. Patterns used? from left to right – Ambler, can’t remember the next one, cadent, and Bilt going across.
For the diva Challenge 175. The idea was to Bring Your Own Beverage. Well, dammit, I’m British, it had to be tea.
Diva Challenge 177 to use a new tangle called Truffle.
Close up of Bijou.
Close up of one of the Bijou tiles.
Christmas card with mini tangled topper. Bijou again.
Diva Challenge 180. All one pattern but differing sizes. Patter name – MacDee
Diva Challenge to use your initials as a string.
another Diva Challenge to use a Tangle called Crux. I like the idea of this one better than the finished product. It looks a bit scrappy to me and the colour isn’t as definite as I would have liked but hey ho.
Diva Challenge 49.
Diva Challenge but I can’t remember which one.
Well I’ve seen eggier shaped eggs but I am fond of this one but don’t ask me why. This was DC 122 or thereabouts.
I tried to avoid filling space on this one. The Challenge was to use curvy patterns.
Diva Challenge. To be done in 15 minutes. Certainly focuses the mind. I cheated and I still didn’t like the nd result.
My first ever Paradox that actually resembles, if only briefly, the original.
DC 101Does it matter if the bugles aren’t verticle? i just wondered what they would look like on their side.
I was quite pleased with this until I saw the others. Mooka and Auraknot. A very early tile for me, June 2014
